Under pressure from hysterical populists ignorant of how economic systems actually work, President Obama has decided to “freeze” the country’s “non-security” “discretionary” spending. Ezra Klein and Nate Silver on Obama’s latest unpresidential cop-out and the many ways in which it will backfire, particularly with the progressives who gave him his presidency—and who should stop hoping and start fighting (Obama, if necessary) sooner rather than later.
